A PERSONAL RETREAT
This February and March have been busy months. Sometimes as a yoga teacher, you focus so much on facilitating beautiful mindful experiences for your clients that you forget your own practise. So I took myself off to Anglesey in North Wales for a Breathe Retreat by The Zest Life. And it was amazing!
The weather was gorgeous and the scenery was stunning. Thirteen of us stayed at Plas Cadnet in a coach house nestled in acres of countryside. As well as yoga, there was breath work, sound healing and cold water dipping. The last one was new for me and it was chilly cold but very empowering, healing and nourishing for my soul. I’ve popped some photos below of my wonderful weekend.
RETREATS LOCALLY
Together with my colleague and good friend Simon, I facilitated two mini daytime retreats - one in Bath at Fly, and one in Bristol at The Wild Box. It was inspiring to teach in two new studios and such a privilege to support all the ladies who attended in fostering their self-esteem and creating deep relaxation. We run our retreats through our joint website Be Retreats. There will be more in the pipeline and dates will be released soon.
Im also collaborating with my long term friend Julia to create a mindfulness coaching and yoga programme for young people in our local area in the time leading up to and during their exams.
This can be such a stressful time for students and we really want to provide a safe haven of relaxation with an environment that embraces mindfulness and calm. Details soon to be released.
There will be a one half day retreat during the Easter break followed a two hour session every fortnight on a Friday evening. All sessions will take place in the Puresoul studio and (weather dependant) maybe outside in the fresh air. We will have space for 8 so do let us know as soon as possible if you would like to secure a place.
EATING DISORDER AWARENESS WEEK
Thank you to all our lovely clients who came to yoga this week to raise money for Beat, the UK’s eating disorder charity. We focussed on the Heart and Solar Plexus Chakras during classes, and enjoyed affirmations for positive body image and healthy self esteem. Altogether we raised a wonderful £250 including Gift Aid.
This was Sophie’s passion project and I’m so grateful for everyone getting behind her to make a difference for those in need of support.
STAFF TRAINING AT THE HEALTH CENTRE
On 22nd February, I presented (and demo’d!) yoga and well-being to the entire staff at The Health Centre in Bradford on Avon as part of their staff training. Joining me was physio Amy and Well-being Coach, Dave, both of whom work at the surgery.
I spent 12 years working at the health centre and it was wonderful and surreal to be back in my yoga gear! I used to dash about in scrubs. It was great to be back and spend time catching up with old doctor colleagues - most of all it was really special to be there in my new role, with all the passion I have for wellbeing and overcoming mental health difficulties to find a happy and healthy life journey.
